This exhibition is the most significant presentation of the French artistic movement Supports/Surfaces in South Korea to date.This group was self-named and led by artists rather than by museum directors, gallerists, or critics and remains a remarkable cultural phenomenon. The time period this show covers was marked by extreme changes in thought, politics, and society. The work on display is colorful, abstract, and simple but never simplistic. These fourteen artists desired to change art to reflect elemental aspects of their political and communal lives.
